A 32-year-old Filipino woman is in critical condition after a severe fire incident in a subdivided apartment at 153 Kings Road, North Point. The fire injured another two people (aged 35 and 22), and one succumbed to death.

The fire started at 2:45 p.m. yesterday (September 27), at the subdivided flat of the 34-year-old Chinese male occupant who called the police.

Firefighters arrived at the scene, extinguished the fire, and rescued the four people. The Filipino woman and the 22-year-old Chinese male, both unconscious, were sent to Ruttonjee Hospital.

The Chinese occupant was conscious at that time, and he was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, where the 29-year-old Chinese female was in unconscious condition.

The Hospital Authority said that the 29-year-old female succumbed to death at 3:47 today (September 28).

The police said that after a preliminary investigation, it is believed that a fire was suspected to have been started by miscellaneous objects at the above address.

At this stage, there is no evidence to suggest that the fire incident involves a criminal element, and the police and relevant departments will continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
