Dental Service Scam Alerts Public: Don’t Pay Strangers to Register

Dental Service Scam in Hong Kong v1

HONG KONG — The Department of Health (DH) is warning citizens against falling prey to online scammers offering to register for public dental services, highlighting a growing trend of fraudulent schemes targeting vulnerable patients.

Unscrupulous touters are attempting to exploit the online registration system for dental general public sessions (ORDGP) by charging unsuspecting individuals to register on their behalf, the DH revealed Tuesday.

The department emphasized that such services are not only unnecessary but potentially dangerous. Each registration requires personal identification, with strict protocols preventing manipulation of the computerized ballot system.

“Paying someone to register will not increase your chances of obtaining a service quota,” a DH spokesperson stated. “Each individual can register only once per day using their own personal information.”

To protect themselves, citizens are advised to:

Register directly through official channels
Report suspicious activities to local police immediately

For those struggling with digital registration, the DH has deployed additional staff to assist. Individuals can visit participating clinics between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to receive free registration support.

“Our priority is ensuring all citizens have equal, secure access to essential health services,” the spokes
