Thailand mass shooting No Pinoy hurt

BANGKOK — No Filipino nationals were injured in a school shooting in central Thailand that left seven people dead and dozens wounded Friday morning, according to the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok.

All eight registered Filipino teachers at Debsirin School Nonthaburi have been accounted for and are safe, embassy officials confirmed in a statement.

Local authorities said the attack began around 10:12 a.m. local time on the sixth floor of a building at the campus, located just north of Bangkok. Police identified the suspect as a student at the school, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following the attack.

“The Philippine Embassy extends its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the entire school community and the Thai government,” the embassy said, adding that the Philippines stands in solidarity with Thailand.

Diplomatic officials said they are continuing to monitor the situation and remain prepared to render assistance to Philippine citizens as needed.
