Crack Down on Illegal Immigration and Pornography in Yau Tsim District, 23 Arrested

Illegal Immigration and Pornography in Yau Tsim District v2

In a sweeping operation targeting illegal immigration and illicit activities, Hong Kong police arrested 23 people in the Yau Tsim district on Saturday.

The operation, codenamed “CHAMPION” and “FIRESTORM”, saw officers from the Yau Tsim Police District conduct raids at multiple locations, resulting in the apprehension of 21 mainland Chinese women and two non-Chinese women ranging in age from 22 to 55 years old.

The individuals were suspected of violating their conditions of stay, overstaying, using fraudulent identification, and working in Hong Kong without authorization, according to a police statement.

“This operation demonstrates our firm commitment to combating illegal immigration and related criminal activities that undermine the rule of law,” said a police spokesperson. “We will continue to work closely with relevant departments to maintain Hong Kong’s safety and stability.”

All those arrested are currently being detained for further investigation, with the cases set to be handed over to the appropriate authorities for follow-up action.

The coordinated crackdown reflects Hong Kong authorities’ ongoing efforts to address issues of illegal immigration and exploitation, which have been longstanding concerns for the international financial hub.
