Woman arrested with 23 bags of cocaine in Mong Kok

A woman was arrested in the bustling Mong Kok district Tuesday after police discovered 23 bags of cocaine during a routine patrol, authorities reported.

West Kowloon police said the suspect was detained around 10 a.m. after exhibiting suspicious behavior near the intersection of Shantung Street and Ferry Street. Officers initially noticed a sedan parked in an unusual manner, prompting a closer investigation.

According to police reports, the female driver initially refused to exit her vehicle. When she finally complied, she attempted to discard a bag into a nearby sewer, which immediately raised law enforcement suspicions.

Upon searching the suspect, officers found 23 bags of cocaine hidden on her person, with each bag weighing approximately 10 grams. The vehicle was registered in her name, further connecting her to the alleged criminal activity.

Police subsequently deployed a drug-sniffing dog to thoroughly search the surrounding area.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. Local authorities did not immediately release her identity pending further investigation.

This incident highlights ongoing efforts by Hong Kong law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes in one of the city’s most densely populated districts.

The case remains under active investigation.
