Ayala Foundation Unveils World-class Contemporary Arts Center at Circuit Makati

A center for contemporary arts will rise at the Circuit Makati shopping center

Makati, Philippines — Ayala Foundation is set to transform Manila’s cultural landscape with a cutting-edge contemporary arts center at Circuit Makati, promising to be a dynamic platform for artistic innovation and creative expression.

Announced on Wednesday, the project marks a significant milestone coinciding with Ayala Museum’s 50th anniversary and Ayala Corporation’s 190-year legacy. The center represents more than just a new cultural venue—it’s a bold statement about the Philippines’ commitment to nurturing artistic creativity.

“This is not merely a building, but an experimental platform that will ignite passion and curiosity,” said Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Foundation chair, emphasizing the center’s mission to explore innovative artistic concepts.

Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Kulapat Yantrasast, whose portfolio includes prestigious renovations at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Louvre, the center promises to be an architectural marvel. Partnering with local firm Lor Calma & Partners, the project integrates global design expertise with Filipino architectural sensibilities.

The venue will showcase an expansive array of artistic expressions—from visual arts and immersive installations to digital art and interactive experiences. Its strategic location along the Pasig River positions it within Makati’s emerging creative district, potentially catalyzing broader urban cultural development.

Sustainability stands at the project’s core, aligning with the Philippine government’s environmental objectives and the city’s climate-conscious urban planning strategies.

“We see this center as more than a museum—it’s a testament to our belief that culture and heritage are fundamental to national development,” said Tony Lambino, Ayala Foundation president.

The contemporary arts center is expected to become a significant cultural landmark, offering visitors of all ages a glimpse into the evolving landscape of artistic innovation.
