New DMW Logo Reflects Hope And Sacrifice Of Filipino Migrant Workers, Officials Say

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac

MANILA — The Philippines’ Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) unveiled a new logo Tuesday that symbolizes the resilience and spirit of overseas Filipino workers, highlighting their critical contribution to the nation’s economy and global workforce.

The logo, designed by John Jaeffer Javier, a freelance graphic artist whose family member works abroad, features red and blue hands emerging from a rising sun, representing the agency’s commitment to supporting and guiding workers who seek opportunities beyond the country’s borders.

DMW Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay described the design as more than mere imagery. “This logo encapsulates the wisdom, courage, and dignity of our overseas workers,” she said during the logo’s launch in Makati City.

The color palette intentionally mirrors the Philippine flag, with white representing the families left behind and yellow symbolizing the workers’ determination. The seven rays represent seven government offices consolidated under the DMW, signaling a unified approach to migrant worker support.

Migrant Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac noted the logo will be prominently featured across the department’s communications, including its website and social media platforms, marking a new visual identity for an agency crucial to the Philippines’ international labor strategy.

The unveiling comes as the Philippines continues to be a major global labor exporter, with millions of workers seeking employment abroad in sectors ranging from healthcare to construction.
