RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — The Philippines reiterated its strong support for the rights and welfare of migrant workers during the 3rd Global Labor Market Conference held Monday in Saudi Arabia, underscoring the country’s dedication to protecting its overseas workforce.

Labor Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac represented the Philippines at the event, which gathered officials from over 120 countries to discuss emerging trends, policy innovations, and the future of work under the theme “Future in Progress.” The conference was hosted by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

Cacdac emphasized the critical importance of investing in people and fostering international partnerships, stating, “Skills development and sustained dialogue are no longer optional—they are essential.”

The Philippine delegation also included key officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to promote decent work and safeguard the rights of Filipino workers abroad, including domestic helpers.

The annual conference serves as a platform for policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to address challenges and share solutions in the global labor market, particularly as migration and workforce dynamics continue to evolve.

The Philippines remains one of the world’s largest sources of migrant labor, and its government continues to prioritize the protection and empowerment of its overseas workers amid shifting global labor landscapes.
