The Filipino Bowling Club of Hong Kong successfully hosted the Global Friendship Games 2025, an international bowling tournament that drew participants from multiple countries over the weekend.
Held at the South China Athletic Association Bowling Center in Causeway Bay on May 3-4, the tournament featured bowling teams from Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, and various Philippine cities.
Newly appointed Filipino Consul General Romulo Victor M. Israel Jr. officially opened the tournament, highlighting the event’s significance in building cross-cultural connections among overseas Filipino workers.
The competition saw Singapore emerging as the top team, with Hong Kong claiming second and third places in the team event. Individual competitions produced notable champions, including JayR Abainza in men’s singles and Grace Pierrepoint from Australia in women’s singles.
In the Masters Event, Francis Magbanua from Hong Kong won the men’s title, while Michelle Honor from Singapore secured the women’s championship.





Jenny Gafate, the club’s founder, noted this was their first international tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic, with their previous international event dating back to 2019.
Consul General Israel praised the tournament for encouraging physical fitness and community engagement among overseas Filipinos, emphasizing the importance of sports in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The event underscored the role of sports in fostering international camaraderie and connecting Filipino communities across different regions.
