Filipino-born Singer Crowned Champion of ‘The Voice’ Season 26

Sofronio Vasquez The Voice 26 winner

Sofronio Vasquez, a 31-year-old Filipino pop-R&B singer now based in Utica, N.Y., was crowned winner of NBC’s “The Voice” on Thursday night, marking a triumphant conclusion to the singing competition’s 26th season.

Under the guidance of first-time coach Michael Bublé, Vasquez emerged victorious against finalists Shye, Danny Joseph, Jeremy Beloate, and Sydney Sterlace in a highly competitive finale.

Vasquez’s journey began with a stirring blind audition of Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Goin’ Down,” which earned him unanimous approval from all four coaches. Throughout the season, he consistently delivered standout performances, including a memorable duet of “The Power of Love” during battle rounds and a showstopping rendition of Dusty Springfield’s “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” in the knockouts.

His final competitive performances included Sia’s “Unstoppable” and “A Million Dreams” from “The Greatest Showman.” The finale featured Vasquez performing “Who’s Lovin’ You” alongside his coach Bublé.

The singer’s rise to fame represents a remarkable journey from humble beginnings in Mindanao, Philippines, where he grew up without basic amenities like indoor plumbing. Initially pursuing a career in dentistry, Vasquez changed course after his father’s sudden death, moving to America to chase his musical dreams.

His performances on “The Voice” have generated significant social media engagement, accumulating 38.2 million views across various platforms. Prior to the show, Vasquez had already built a following online, with viral performances on TikTok and Facebook.

“The Voice” continues to dominate ratings as the most-watched alternative series in its time slot. The show will return for its 27th season on February 3, with Bublé returning alongside Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, and Adam Levine.
