HONG KONG – The Hong Kong International Airport is celebrating the city’s rich artistic heritage with a vibrant Arts and Culture Festival, featuring a series of art exhibitions that highlight local talent and traditions. The festival aims to immerse visitors in Hong Kong’s diverse arts scene through a collaboration with prominent artists and art institutions.
A standout feature of this year’s festival is the Hong Kong Artisan Avenue, where attendees can delve into the city’s traditional crafts and cultural experiences. This interactive art installation spotlights six local crafts, many of which have been officially recognized as part of Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage.
Among the crafts showcased are flower board crafting, the iconic Hong Kong-style milk tea, delectable Chinese dim sum, bamboo steamer and mahjong tile making, as well as the unique “Lee Hon Kong Kai” calligraphy. Visitors can not only admire actual products created by local masters but also take photos with life-sized replicas, providing plenty of opportunities for memorable snapshots.
In addition to viewing these crafts, attendees can engage in hands-on activities. They can create their own postcards featuring Hong Kong street scenes using stamps crafted with the distinctive “Lee Hon Kong Kai” fonts. Luggage stickers designed by renowned local illustrator Don Mak are also available, adding a personal touch to the festival experience.
Located in the arrivals hall B of Terminal 1, the installation will be on display from today until October 31, inviting travelers and locals alike to explore and celebrate the artistic spirit of Hong Kong. This festival not only highlights the city’s cultural treasures but also reinforces the importance of preserving and sharing its unique heritage.
