Hong Kong Authorities Arrested 28 Persons in Anti-Illegal Workers

In a series of anti-illegal worker operations conducted by the Immigration Department (ImmD) and Hong Kong Police, a total of 28 individuals have been apprehended. The operations, which took place from February 26 to 29, resulted in the arrest of 22 individuals across various districts.

The ImmD Task Force officers targeted 45 locations, including a dance studio, industrial buildings, premises under renovation, restaurants, and retail shops. Among those arrested, there were 15 suspected illegal workers, four suspected employers, and one suspected aider and abettor. The apprehended illegal workers consisted of eight men and seven women, aged 18 to 55. Notably, three women were found in possession of forged Hong Kong identity cards. Additionally, two men and two women, aged 29 to 52, were arrested for allegedly employing the illegal workers. Furthermore, a 34-year-old man was apprehended for aiding and abetting an individual who had breached the conditions of his stay in Hong Kong.

During the operations conducted by the police, 25 locations in the Wan Chai district were raided. As a result, two overstayers, both 40-year-old women, were arrested.

Continuing the efforts, on March 7, the ImmD Task Force officers conducted anti-illegal worker operations at nine locations, which included a factory, warehouses, restaurants, and a vegetable transfer station. In this operation, four suspected illegal workers, all men between the ages of 28 and 37, were arrested. It is worth noting that all four individuals held recognition forms, which prohibit them from engaging in any employment. Additionally, two men, aged 41 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of employing the illegal workers.
