The Philippine National Food Month kicked off in Hong Kong

HONG KONG — The Philippine National Food Month kicked off in Hong Kong with a bang, as the Philippine Consulate officially launched the third branch of the popular Filipino brand Potato Corner in Mongkok.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan, marked the introduction of the “World’s Best Flavoured Fries” to the Mongkok community. The event was attended by Vice Consul Allan G. Revote, head of the Consulate’s Cultural Section, and a group of young Overseas Filipino Entrepreneurs who brought the iconic Filipino franchise to Hong Kong.

The new branch, located at the Ground Floor of Ho King Commercial Centre along Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok, is the third Potato Corner outlet in Hong Kong, joining two existing branches in Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui.

The theme of this year’s National Food Month, highlights the Filipino youth’s role in strengthening Filipino food culture through innovation. This is evident in the way Filipino cuisine has been adapted and reimagined, such as the introduction of “Filipino Flavours” to continental favorites like French fries and chicken.

The launch of the new Potato Corner branch is a testament to the growing popularity of Filipino cuisine in Hong Kong and the entrepreneurial spirit of the Filipino community. The event is expected to attract foodies and fans of Filipino cuisine from across the city.

The Philippine National Food Month is an annual celebration that aims to promote Filipino cuisine and culture around the world. This year’s celebration is expected to be a culinary journey that will take participants on a gastronomic adventure through the flavors and traditions of the Philippines.
