MANILA — The Philippine government has rolled out an upgraded online platform aimed at increasing transparency and enabling citizens to monitor and report irregularities in billions of pesos worth of public infrastructure projects, officials said Tuesday.
Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Dave Gomez described the newly launched DPWH Transparency Portal as an “Isumbong mo sa Pangulo 2.0,” an expanded and more user-friendly evolution of the citizen complaint website launched by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in August.
Speaking in a television interview, Gomez urged Filipinos to use the AI-powered portal to track Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects in their communities and flag suspected anomalies, including substandard construction.
“Contrary to the initial belief that it might be intimidating, the portal is very user-friendly,” Gomez said. “In the search bar, just type the project you want to look for—and all the details will appear.”
The platform provides detailed information on any DPWH project nationwide, including the implementing office, contractor, cost, and current status—features that go far beyond the original Sumbong sa Pangulo site, which focused primarily on flood-control projects.
Gomez said the older presidential complaint platform will gradually be phased out as reports are transferred to the new DPWH-managed system, which was developed in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology. The Office of the President will retain oversight of the portal, he added.
President Marcos formally unveiled the transparency portal on Monday as part of continuing anti-corruption reforms in public works, nearly four months after launching the original Sumbong sa Pangulo website on Aug. 11 to address complaints about anomalous infrastructure contracts.
Officials said the enhanced portal is intended to strengthen public participation, deter graft, and improve accountability in the implementation of infrastructure projects across the country.
