81 non-Chinese individuals, including Filipinos, arrested in anti-crime police operations

The Hong Kong Police conducted a four-day operation (16-19 August) to combat crime and triad activities in different district areas in Hong Kong.

Fourteen suspected illegal casinos, two suspected unlicensed massage parlors, one suspected drug house, and one suspected unlicensed bar were raided.

The HK Police arrested a total of 423 persons, including 281 men and 142 women, aged between 16 and 93, were arrested. Among the arrested persons, 81 were non-Chinese individuals, including Philippine nationals, and some individuals had affiliations with organized crime.

The arrested persons were found guilty of “wounding”, “assault occasioning actual bodily harm”, “criminal damage”, “unlawful assembly”, “possession of offensive weapons”, “possession of prohibited weapons”, “trafficking in dangerous drugs”, “operating a tobacco shop”, “possession of dangerous drugs”, “obtaining property by deception” and “dealing with property known or believed to represent the proceeds of an indictable offense” (commonly known as money laundering), “operating a gambling establishment”, “operating an unlicensed massage establishment”, “illegal immigration” and “breach of condition of stay”.

During the operation, officers seized a total of about $130,000 in cash and a batch of drugs valued at about $3.17 million, including about 1.9 kilograms of suspected cocaine, and about 1.5 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and other drugs. At the same time, officers also seized a large quantity of gambling equipment and weapons, including four knives and a retractable baton.
