In a resounding display of the Philippines’ culinary prowess, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center – Hong Kong (PTIC-HK) and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) proudly participated in the prestigious HKTDC Food Expo Pro, held from August 15-17 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Philippine delegation, comprising 7 dynamic food companies, captivated the Hong Kong market with their fine-tasting, fresh, and healthy food options. Showcased within an 18-square meter space, the Philippine booth offered a tantalizing array of local produce, including the beloved durian, cavendish banana, and pineapple, as well as a wide selection of seafood products such as mangrove crabs, fresh frozen cuttlefish, and dried seaweed.

“The unique flavors and quality of Philippine food and cuisine have been enthusiastically embraced by the Hong Kong market,” remarked Atty. Roberto B. Mabalot, Jr., Vice Consul (Commercial) and Commercial Attaché of the Philippines in Hong Kong. “This is evident from the strong leads and inquiries generated from overseas buyers, resulting in a total sales performance valued at USD 3,800,242.88.”

The Philippine participation was further bolstered by a series of concurrent activities organized by PTIC-HK. These included an informative session with a leading e-commerce platform in Hong Kong, as well as the agency responsible for food import regulations under the Hong Kong SAR Government. Additionally, PTIC-HK orchestrated a range of B2B meetings with various Hong Kong-based food companies and organized a tour of a Hong Kong-based food technology company, allowing the exhibitors to gain valuable insights into relevant food technologies applicable to their enterprises.

“We are excited to apply the learnings from this successful Philippine participation in future food-related events,” Atty. Mabalot added, emphasizing the Philippines’ determination to further strengthen its culinary presence on the global stage.

The Philippines’ impressive showcase at the HKTDC Food Expo Pro underscores the country’s growing reputation as a hub of diverse and exceptional culinary offerings. As the world’s palate continues to be captivated by the unique flavors and quality of Philippine cuisine, the future holds boundless opportunities for the nation’s food and beverage industry to thrive on the international stage.
