Hong Kong – The Philippines showcased its vibrant trade and investment ties with Hong Kong during an educational workshop at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University this past week.
The event, organized by HKPU’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management, featured a presentation from Atty. Roberto B. Mabalot, Jr., Vice Consul (Commercial) and Commercial Attaché with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center – Hong Kong (PTIC-HK).
Mabalot highlighted the close economic relationship between the Philippines and Hong Kong, underscoring the prominence of numerous Philippine food and beverage brands that have found success in the Hong Kong and Macau markets. This impressive roster includes household names like Jollibee, Potato Corner, Turks, and San Miguel Corporation.
“The Philippines and Hong Kong enjoy robust trade and investment ties, with many beloved Filipino brands resonating strongly with consumers here,” said Mabalot. “This workshop was a fantastic opportunity to share insights on these dynamic commercial relationships.”
The event attracted a diverse audience of HKPU students, faculty, and other attendees, providing them an in-depth look at the Philippines’ thriving business landscape and its influential presence in the regional marketplace.
“Learning about the Philippines’ dynamic trade ties with Hong Kong was eye-opening,” said Fiona Lam, a third-year hotel management student at HKPU. “It’s clear the two economies are deeply integrated, with Filipino brands playing a major role in Hong Kong’s vibrant food and beverage scene.”
The workshop underscores the Philippines’ concerted efforts to deepen its commercial ties with Hong Kong, a key trading partner and investment destination. As the two economies continue to forge closer links, events like this one will help foster greater understanding and collaboration between the business communities on both sides.
