The Hong Kong government has issued a reminder for residents to exercise caution when traveling to the United Kingdom, following ongoing protests and riots. On Tuesday, officials advised those planning to visit or currently in the UK to stay informed about the situation and avoid large gatherings.
In a statement, a government spokesman emphasized the importance of personal safety, urging residents to monitor local announcements and developments closely. The government has also provided resources for those needing assistance while abroad. Travelers can reach a 24-hour hotline at (852) 1868, access a chatbot via the Immigration Department’s mobile app, or contact the Chinese Embassy in the UK at its consular protection hotline: +44 7536 174993.
The Security Bureau is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates through various channels, including the media, the Bureau’s mobile app, and the Outbound Travel Alert webpage.
Additionally, the Amber travel alert for the UK remains in effect, indicating potential risks for travelers. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant as tensions continue in the region.
