Free Consultation for Migrant Workers from Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners

Acupuncture for OFWs v2

The traditional Chinese medicine practitioners from Hang Chiu Chiu Medicine Clinic, located in Mong Kok, Kowloon, offer free consultations to domestic helpers in Hong Kong.
The free consultation is a project in collaboration with the overseas Filipino workers’ organization, Social Justice for Migrant Workers (SJMW).
The project, which started in April 2022, gives free treatment of acupuncture, cupping, and moxibustion after assessing the physical condition of the patients.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its treatments are ideal for stiffness and pain, as well as other symptoms like headaches, stomach aches, and fatigue caused by menstruation.
The purpose of this project is not only to help distressed migrant workers with their health but also to give opportunities to those who don’t have the means to pay for a private clinic. Migrant workers with cancer are some of the patients who received treatment from the clinic.
The traditional Chinese medicine practitioners who unselfishly give their time and professional health services are Ms. Zoe Cheng (Cheng Chin Ching), the head of the project; Mr. Bear (Ng Ka Chun); Ms. Iris (Chow Ka Man); Mr. Cheng (Cheng Yiu Chun); Ms. Leung (Leung Lai Yan); Ms. Liu (Liu Mei Ting); and Ms. Passy (Chan Pok Sze).
The clinic opens to migrant workers every two Sundays of the month. The administrative work, like registering and assisting the patients, is done by volunteers from the SJFMW Administration. (Leizl Rosales, General Secretary, SJFMW)
