Local authorities are actively searching for an Indonesian domestic helper accused of violently restraining an 81-year-old bedridden woman, after a disturbing surveillance video surfaced revealing alleged abuse.
The shocking footage, released by the victim’s family, captures a series of aggressive actions by the 57-year-old caregiver, including forcefully pressing the elderly woman’s hands and pushing her legs when she reportedly resisted a diaper change.
In a more alarming sequence, the helper is seen gagging the elderly patient with a towel and binding her hands with a yoga strap, leaving visible physical trauma. The victim, suffering from Lymphoma and recently discharged after seven months of medical treatment, sustained swelling and abrasions to her mouth and right hand.
The family discovered the March 17 recording and immediately contacted law enforcement, subsequently terminating the domestic helper’s employment contract. Police have officially classified the incident as assault and wounding, and are currently conducting an investigation to locate the suspect.
The case has reignited discussions about elder care and the critical importance of rigorous screening and monitoring of domestic workers, particularly those caring for vulnerable individuals.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the helper’s whereabouts to contact local police immediately.
