DMW Boosts Financial Aid for Distressed OFWs Under AKSYON Fund

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW)

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has announced an increase in financial assistance for distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families through the AKSYON Fund, aimed at providing urgent support during crises.

The Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFWs na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund is designed to offer immediate help to OFWs facing a range of distressing situations, including economic downturns, natural disasters, human trafficking, and other emergencies. The expanded fund will facilitate various forms of aid, including legal, medical, and financial assistance.

“Whether it’s repatriation, the shipment of human remains, or rescue operations, the AKSYON Fund is a lifeline for our OFWs in need,” said DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac. “We recognize the challenges faced by our workers abroad and are committed to ensuring their rights and welfare are protected.”

The fund has proven essential for many OFWs and their families, especially during recent global crises that have exacerbated vulnerabilities. By enhancing financial support, the DMW aims to provide a robust safety net for Filipino nationals facing adversity.

The AKSYON Fund underscores the Philippine government’s dedication to safeguarding the welfare of its citizens working overseas, ensuring that help is readily available in times of need.
