In a heartwarming display of seasonal generosity, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has transformed the spirit of giving into tangible magic for local children, partnering with over 20 non-governmental organizations to deliver joy this holiday season.
The resort’s “Give A Toy, Share the Love” campaign witnessed Disney VoluntEARS meticulously selecting and packaging gifts, ensuring each present matches a child’s deepest wishes. Michael Moriarty, the resort’s managing director, personally participated in the gift-sorting process, embodying the company’s commitment to community service.
“Disney VoluntEARS are like Santa Claus, hand-picking gifts tailored for each child,” said Anita Lai, vice president of communications. “Giving is part of our core identity, especially during the holiday season.”
At The Salvation Army Tin Ka Ping School, seven-year-old Leung Tsz-ying’s face lit up upon receiving a coveted Lotso bear plush from Mickey Mouse himself. “This is the present I dreamed of! Meeting Mickey is the best Christmas gift ever,” she exclaimed.
Beyond toy distribution, Disney organized a festive party featuring games and storytelling, creating moments of unbridled joy for children. Major Glenn Price of The Salvation Army praised the collaboration, describing the toys as “symbols of hope, love, and joy for families facing challenges.”
The resort’s charitable initiatives extend further: for each “Frozen” mini figurine sold, HK$50 will be donated to Make-A-Wish Hong Kong. Additionally, Holiday Wishes Charity Postcards will support Operation Santa Claus, demonstrating Disney’s multifaceted approach to community engagement.
As Chan Chi Pun, school head at Tin Ka Ping, noted, the ultimate goal transcends gift-giving: “We hope students understand the importance of sharing and become eager to help others.”
Through these efforts, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort continues to prove that true magic lies not in fantastical attractions, but in the power of compassion and community spirit.
