The Immigration Department’s new headquarters is set to elevate public service delivery by integrating a range of additional services and modern facilities. Beyond the functions of the current Wan Chai Immigration Building, the new headquarters will feature a birth registry, a marriage registry, and a wedding hall adorned with a starlight effect curtain wall.
This state-of-the-art facility will also introduce innovative “Personal Document Application Service Stations” and “Personal Document Collection Service Stations,” significantly streamlining the process for citizens to apply for and collect important documents.
Strategically situated between Tseung Kwan O and Tiu Keng Leng MTR stations, the headquarters is conveniently accessible with just a 5 to 8-minute walk from either station. This prime location is expected to enhance accessibility and reduce travel time for the public.
Spanning an expansive total area of 17,200 square meters, the headquarters offers a net operational floor space of 57,400 square meters. The architectural design seamlessly integrates with the surrounding environment, reflecting a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics.
Despite the opening of the new headquarters, the existing Immigration Tower in Wan Chai will continue to serve the public by providing identity card services until 2026, according to a spokesperson from the Immigration Department.
The enhanced services and modern amenities at the new headquarters underscore the department’s commitment to improving public convenience and efficiency in service delivery.
Finally, the Immigration Department confirmed that the visa section will be moved to the new site.
