In a vibrant showcase of cultural collaboration, the Department of Trade and Industry of the Philippines, through the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Hong Kong (PTIC-HK), has successfully facilitated the location shooting of the Miss Hong Kong Pageant 2024, held from July 28 to August 4.
The initiative, spearheaded by PTIC-HK, brought a unique twist to the traditional pageant format by relocating key filming to the picturesque Baguio City in the Philippines. The collaboration was made possible after PTIC-HK engaged with TVB Broadcast Limited, the local television giant behind the Miss Hong Kong event, convincing them to explore the scenic beauty of the Philippines.
On July 28, three contestants—Ellyn Ngai, Candice Wong, and Zoie Tse—embarked on their journey to Baguio, accompanied by TVB artists Luisa Maria Leitão and Phoebe Pang. The candidates spent several days filming segments that will be featured in two upcoming episodes of the pageant.
The filming in Baguio not only highlights the city’s stunning landscapes but also fosters stronger ties between Hong Kong and the Philippines. Providing support throughout the process was Atty. Roberto B. Mabalot, Jr., Vice Consul (Commercial) and Commercial Attaché at PTIC-HK, who accompanied the team and ensured a smooth shooting experience.
As the Miss Hong Kong Pageant continues to evolve, this year’s collaboration underscores the potential of cultural exchange and the importance of international partnerships in the entertainment industry. The episodes filmed in Baguio are expected to capture the essence of both Hong Kong and the Philippines, showcasing the rich diversity and beauty of the region.
