The skies over Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District will come alive on Monday evening with a spectacular display of light and technology as the city celebrates the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
More than 2,000 drones will take to the air in a choreographed performance dubbed “The Next Generation Chorus,” easily surpassing the previous Guinness World Record for the largest drone show. The drones will form elaborate patterns and images symbolizing the nation’s progress and achievements over the past 75 years.
“This is going to be a show like nothing Hong Kong has ever seen before,” said event organizer Ming Chan. “The scale and complexity of the drone performance is truly breathtaking and a testament to the innovative spirit of our country.”
In addition to the record-breaking drone display, the celebratory event will feature performances by over 1,000 student singers performing patriotic songs, as well as displays by various youth groups. The 40-minute show will be divided into three segments representing the themes of “Standing Up,” “Growing Prosperous,” and “Becoming Strong.”
Hong Kong residents will be able to view the spectacle from designated viewing areas set up throughout the Art Park, or catch the live broadcast on local television channels. Certain sections of the park will be temporarily closed to the public during the event setup and takedown processes.
“This is a proud moment for our nation, and we’re thrilled to be able to share it with the people of Hong Kong,” said Zhang Li, the director of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. “The drone show is going to be an unforgettable experience that captures the spirit of China’s remarkable 75-year journey.”
