HONG KONG – As Hong Kong rings in the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1st, the government and local businesses are pulling out all the stops to celebrate with the people.
A highlight will be the return of the spectacular National Day Fireworks Display over Victoria Harbour after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. Cinemagoers can enjoy half-price movie tickets citywide. Cultural facilities like museums and parks will offer free admission.
Twelve historic buildings will host special tours, workshops, and food deals through October 8th as part of the government’s revitalization program. Ferry, rail, and bus rides will be complimentary on the holiday, delighting families.
Discounts of up to 26% will also be found on local seafood and produce through October 7th. Green-minded citizens can earn bonus rewards for recycling or composting. An estimated 1,000 restaurants will serve special menus at reduced costs too.
From shopping centers to wet markets, all corners of the city will participate in their own promotions. The government is grateful for the outpouring of community spirit and looks forward to celebrating National Day together. Hongkongers are encouraged to check the official website for updates on the festivities.
