Greater Bay Area Culture & Arts Festival Opens in Hong Kong

HONG KONG – The 4th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture & Arts Festival kicked off today at the Hong Kong Coliseum, launching over 260 events across the “9+2” cities of the Greater Bay Area.

In a video address, Hong Kong’s Chief Executive John Lee called the festival an “annual mega event” that will showcase the rich arts and cultural essence of the region. This marks the first time Hong Kong has hosted the festival.

The event is jointly presented by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism, the Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Macao governments. Lee thanked the Ministry for its support in enriching cultural exchanges and collaborations across the bay area.

“This year’s festival could further promote cultural integration and talent exchanges among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau,” said Lee, “injecting new creativity and vitality into arts and cultural development.”

Lee expressed confidence that Hong Kong, with strong national support and global connectivity, will continue developing as an “East-meets-West center for international cultural exchange.”

The opening program “Sound River” featured a new composition by renowned Chinese conductor Tan Dun, performed by a newly formed Greater Bay Area Culture & Arts Festival Orchestra.

Senior officials from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau governments attended the opening ceremony, underscoring the regional collaboration behind this major cultural event.

The festival runs through November 24, offering audiences a rich lineup of performing arts, visual arts, film screenings, and more across the Greater Bay Area.
