Disney Sets Sail in Asia: Massive Cruise Ship Poised to Revolutionize Asian Tourism

Marvel-themed 2025 Disney Asia cruise

SINGAPORE — Disney is charting a bold new course in Asian cruise tourism with the launch of Disney Adventure, a groundbreaking vessel set to become the first Disney cruise ship permanently based in the region.

The 208,000-gross-ton ship, capable of accommodating 6,700 passengers, will make its maiden voyage from Singapore on December 15, 2025, marking a significant expansion of Disney’s maritime operations.

Passengers can now book tickets for the highly anticipated cruise, with Disney Cruise Line’s Regional Manager Sarah Fox describing the vessel as a meticulously crafted “game-changer” for the industry.

“This isn’t just a ship; it’s a floating entertainment destination,” Fox said in a press conference Monday. “We’ve designed an experience that blends Disney magic with cutting-edge maritime technology.”

The ship’s Marvel-themed upper deck, featuring the world’s longest cruise ship rollercoaster at 250 meters, highlights Disney’s strategic approach to capturing Asian markets where superhero franchises enjoy immense popularity.

Pricing ranges from $1,564 for two adults on the inaugural journey to $3,400 for a family of four, with voyages lasting three to five nights. The vessel will be homeported in Singapore for five years, potentially attracting millions of local and international tourists.

Interestingly, the ship was acquired from Genting Hong Kong for 40 million euros following the company’s 2022 bankruptcy, rather than being constructed by Disney directly.

This launch coincides with Disney’s ambitious fleet expansion plans, with the company targeting 13 cruise ships by 2031 — a significant increase from its current five-ship fleet.

Singapore, eager to revitalize its tourism sector after pandemic-related challenges, sees the Disney Adventure as a potential game-changer. The country welcomed 2 million cruise passengers last year, with nearly half from international markets.

The ship’s seven themed areas, inspired by Marvel, Disney, and Pixar properties, alongside a menu featuring diverse Asian cuisines, signal Disney’s commitment to creating a unique, culturally resonant maritime experience.

As global tourism rebounds, Disney’s strategic move into the Asian market represents a calculated bet on the region’s growing appetite for innovative travel experiences.

The Disney Adventure sets sail December 15, 2025, promising to redefine cruise entertainment in the process.
