A family’s magical day at Hong Kong Disneyland turned tragic Friday when a 10-year heart disease patient suddenly collapsed and died during a light rail ride at the park’s “World of Frozen” attraction.
Park officials confirmed the man, who had a documented history of high blood pressure and was on long-term medication, fell unconscious while aboard the ride. His wife immediately sought assistance from Disney staff, who promptly initiated emergency medical protocols.
According to a park spokesperson, medical respondents immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while the boat remained docked. Despite swift intervention, the guest was pronounced dead at North Lantau Hospital at 11:30 a.m.
“The resort deeply regrets the passing of the guest and will do its utmost to provide necessary assistance to his family,” the spokesperson said.
The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department conducted a preliminary investigation and confirmed the ride itself exhibited no mechanical faults.
Disney officials stressed that initial findings suggest the incident was not related to ride safety, indicating a possible medical event unrelated to the attraction’s operation.
The park continues to cooperate with local authorities as the investigation proceeds.
