The Saudi Pro League is set to make history this summer, bringing its top-tier football spectacle to Hong Kong in an unprecedented move that promises to electrify fans and boost international sports tourism.
From August 19 to 23, the Hong Kong Stadium will host the Saudi Super Cup, marking the first time the tournament ventures beyond Saudi Arabia’s borders and into East Asia.
Four elite Saudi clubs — Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al Nassr, and Al-Qadsiah — will compete, featuring a constellation of global football superstars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Sadio Mané.
The tournament’s opening match on August 19 promises high-octane drama, with Al Nassr (featuring Ronaldo and Mané) facing Al-Ittihad (with Benzema), setting the stage for an international football showdown.
“We’re proud to be the host city for such a prestigious event and to represent the region on the international football stage,” said Eric Fok Kai-shan, Hong Kong Football Association Chairman.
Ticket sales commence July 15 through Klook, with organizers expecting significant international and local interest. The tournament isn’t just about matches; it includes community engagement and cultural exchange programs, allowing fans unprecedented access to football’s global icons.
Yasser Al Misehal, president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, described the event as a testament to growing international football partnerships.
While star player participation remains subject to club discretion, tournament organizers are optimistic about delivering a world-class sporting spectacle.
The Saudi Super Cup’s Hong Kong debut represents more than a football tournament — it’s a strategic move to elevate regional sports prominence and cross-cultural engagement.
