Philippines Promotes Culinary Exports at Hong Kong’s 35th Food Expo

DTI at 35th Food Expo

HONG KONG — The Philippines is highlighting its diverse food and beverage offerings at the 35th Hong Kong Food Expo, aiming to expand market reach in Asia through a dedicated pavilion featuring craft beers, tropical fruits and coffee products.
Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the expo runs from Aug. 14-18 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, drawing over 1,860 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions. The Food Expo PRO segment, focused on trade buyers, is held concurrently from Aug. 14-16 and includes group pavilions from ASEAN nations, with the Philippines among them.

The Philippine Pavilion, located in Hall 5E at booths 5E-B20 and 5E-B22, is facilitated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Hong Kong (PTIC-HK) and the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong. It features participation from four companies, a university and a government agency: Engkanto Beer, known for award-winning craft beers; Empereur Farms PC; Raspina Tropical Fruits Inc.; McNester Food Products; Mountain Province State University; and the DTI office in Baguio, Benguet.

Products on display include coffee, tropical fruits, craft beer and calamansi-based processed foods, emphasizing halal, healthy and export-quality options to attract international buyers. Additional exhibitors under group associations like Philexport Southern Tagalog Region IV Association Inc. at booth 5E-C17 showcase food supplements, virgin coconut oil, turmeric, banana chips, coconut liquors, chocolates, polvoron, herbal items, nuts and peanuts.
Specialty food product manufacturers, such as Jireh Food, Brics Venture, Christian’s Pastry Shop, and Farmer’s Blend, showcase an exquisite array of gourmet snacks, premium direct-from-the-farm coffee beans, and a diverse selection of export-ready culinary packages. These brands exemplify a commitment to quality and flavor, bringing authentic taste experiences to consumers while supporting sustainable farming practices. With a focus on innovation and excellence, they cater to discerning palates, ensuring that every product reflects a rich heritage and a dedication to culinary artistry.

Baken Philippines Inc., at booth 5E-B18, presents ready-to-eat snacks such as real bacon crisps, bacon jam and bacon cookies. Philexport Cavite Chapter, listed at booths 5E-B20 or 5E-C18, promotes various food products from Cavite province.
A special session, “Awaken Your Senses: Discover the Rich Flavours of Philippine Coffee!” is scheduled for Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the Coffee Zone of Hall 5E, highlighting the country’s coffee heritage.
The participation builds on previous years’ successes, where similar efforts at the 2024 expo generated $3.8 million in sales for Philippine exhibitors, according to DTI reports. This year’s event coincides with celebrations of the expo’s 35th edition, offering promotional deals and attracting both trade professionals and the public.
Vice Consul Roberto Mabalot, Jr. of PTIC-HK oversees the delegation, encouraging Hong Kong-based visitors to register for access via a dedicated link. The expo also features concurrent events like the Beauty & Wellness Expo and Hong Kong International Tea Fair, enhancing opportunities for cross-sector networking.
Philippine officials view the expo as a key platform to boost exports, aligning with broader efforts to strengthen economic ties with Hong Kong and the region.
