HONG KONG – The National Organization of Professional Teachers in Hong Kong (NOPT HK) held a joyous Mother’s Day celebration on May 12, 2024, filled with appreciation, laughter, and a deep reverence for the role of mothers.
The afternoon tea party, hosted at the Bayanihan Kennedy Town Centre, was attended by NOPT HK members and graced by the presence of esteemed guests and advisers, including GMA News Stringer & HK PINOY TV’s Corazon Amaya Cañete, BDO Remit’s Lucas Raganit, BDO Unibank’s Joel Almeda, and Metrobank’s Jay R Rañosa.
As members entered the venue, they were welcomed with flowers and the soulful sounds of Whitney Houston’s “The Greatest Love of All,” setting the tone for a heartwarming celebration of motherhood.
The event was highlighted by an essay writing contest titled “BEST MOM,” where members shared narratives of their experiences as overseas Filipino worker (OFW) mothers. The winning entries, chosen by the distinguished guests and advisers, were:
1st place: Mayjean Catbagan – Region 1
2nd place: Susan Navallo – Region 4
3rd place: Eliza Domondon – Region 1
In addition to the essay contest, the festivities included lively games such as Family Feud and Find My Spot, led by the energetic host, Ms. Edna Libo-on.
“As we honor mothers on this special day, let us remember the profound impact they have on our lives,” said Gemma Lauraya, President of NOPT HK. “A mother’s love is a gift that should be cherished and celebrated every day.”
