Hong Kong Unveils Plans for December Celebration Featuring New Giant Pandas Residents:

New giant panda meet

Excitement is building in Hong Kong as the government announced today that two giant pandas, An An and Ke Ke, will meet the public in December. Gifted by the central government, these beloved animals are currently settling into their new home and are reported to be in excellent health.

To commemorate the arrival of the pandas, the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau, in collaboration with the Tourism Board and Ocean Park, is planning an array of promotional activities designed to create a festive atmosphere. The pandas will serve as ambassadors for Hong Kong’s tourism campaign, promoting the message that “tourism is everywhere in Hong Kong.” The initiative aims to attract visitors from around the globe, bolstering the city’s tourism sector.

A centerpiece of the welcoming festivities will be the HELLO PANDAS Carnival, scheduled to run from December 11 to 21 at the Cultural Centre Piazzas. This free outdoor event will feature a variety of attractions, including art installations, interactive performances, a cultural and creative fair, and a photography exhibition, all themed around the enchanting world of giant pandas.

In addition to the carnival, the bureau is backing the PANDA GO! FEST HK, a large-scale exhibition organized by a local creative brand. This event will showcase a giant panda roving exhibition over three weekends, starting December 7, inviting families and panda enthusiasts to enjoy the festivities.

To further enhance the excitement, the Tourism Board is producing a new television promotional video focused on the giant pandas. This initiative aims to spark a citywide enthusiasm for these iconic creatures, engaging residents and visitors alike.

As the countdown begins for the pandas’ public debut, the anticipation is palpable, with plans in place to ensure An An and Ke Ke capture the hearts of the community and beyond.
