Free Tram Rides to Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Mid-Autumn Festival Free Ride

In a festive twist to the Mid-Autumn Festival, citizens and tourists will enjoy free and unlimited tram rides around Hong Kong Island next Tuesday, September 17. This special offering, part of the fourth annual “Ding Ding Fun Free Tram Ride Day,” was announced by Hong Kong Tramways on Thursday in collaboration with Huatai International.

This year’s theme, “One Moon Shared, One World Connected,” emphasizes cultural exchange and the importance of unity among diverse communities. Organizers aim to foster connections and celebrate the richness of shared traditions during this beloved holiday.

The event also coincides with a significant milestone: the 120th anniversary of Hong Kong’s iconic tram service, affectionately known as “Ding Ding.” Since its inception, the tram has been a beloved symbol of the city, providing both residents and visitors a unique way to explore its vibrant streets.

Since 2021, Huatai International has spearheaded this initiative, transforming the tram ride into a communal experience during one of the city’s most cherished festivals. The initiative not only highlights local culture but also invites tourists to partake in a quintessential Hong Kong experience.

As the festival approaches, excitement builds around this opportunity to connect with others while traversing the stunning landscapes of Hong Kong Island aboard its historic trams.
