Twenty-five Filipino caregivers returned to the Philippines Sunday night, greeted by top government officials who provided comprehensive reintegration support aimed at stabilizing their economic futures after leaving Israel.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan and Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac personally welcomed the workers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, marking a critical moment in the government’s ongoing efforts to protect and support overseas Filipino workers.
Each repatriate received 150,000 Philippine pesos in financial aid and TESDA vocational training certificates, a strategic approach designed to prevent workers from immediately seeking employment abroad again.
“Our primary goal is to equip these workers with skills and capital for sustainable local opportunities,” Caunan told reporters Monday.
The workers underwent immediate medical screening by Department of Health personnel, with some receiving necessary health interventions. This arrival follows another group of 13 OFWs who returned on July 4, bringing the recent repatriation total to 38.
Despite ongoing regional tensions between Israel and Iran, Caunan noted that over 30,000 Filipinos remain in Israel, attracted by competitive salaries and employment opportunities.
