MANILA — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Department of Migrant Workers provided immediate assistance Thursday to 38 overseas Filipino workers and 12 dependents repatriated from Dubai, along with 17 Filipino seafarers affected by an incident in the Black Sea.
The repatriated workers and their dependents arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 aboard Emirates Flight EK330. Government personnel met them at the airport, helped facilitate their arrival and distributed emergency assistance, the OWWA said in a news release.
The assistance included food, financial aid and transportation. Temporary accommodation was also provided for those who needed it.
The 17 Filipino seafarers from the tanker M/T GAS received special financial assistance, the agency said. Their manning agency arranged temporary lodging and transportation to their respective provinces while they completed post-arrival requirements.
The OWWA said government support would continue after the workers and seafarers return home through reintegration programs. These include employment assistance, livelihood and entrepreneurship support, skills training and other programs designed to help returning workers rebuild their lives and reconnect with their families and communities.
The agency said the government, under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., would continue assisting overseas Filipino workers throughout their migration journey, including during emergencies, repatriation and reintegration.
