Mother Arrested for Assaulting Children Over Noise Dispute

Tai Po Police

In a shocking turn of events, a 46-year-old mother residing in Fanling was arrested on Friday night after allegedly assaulting her four children over what appears to be a dispute related to noise levels. The incident, which took place in the family’s flat in May Lun Building on Luen On Street, has left the community reeling.

The Hong Kong Police received a distressing report at 11:36 pm detailing the assault on the three daughters, aged 11 to 17, and the eldest son, aged 19. The mother, of Indonesian descent but holding a Hong Kong identity card, reportedly used her hands and a water bottle during the assault. The motive behind the attack is believed to be the mother’s dissatisfaction with her children’s loud singing.

Law enforcement swiftly responded to the call and, following a preliminary investigation, apprehended the mother on charges of ill-treatment or neglect towards young persons. The severity of the incident has prompted the involvement of the Tai Po district crime investigation team, who are now overseeing the case.

The victims, all of whom suffered injuries primarily to their limbs, were promptly transported to North District Hospital for medical attention. Disturbingly, one of the children sustained a head injury during the altercation.
