Organizers of the Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong (ACGHK) event are taking steps to avoid overcrowding issues at this year’s highly anticipated five-day festival, including charging separately for entry to the cosplay and exhibition areas.
The move marks a departure from the event’s previous all-in-one ticketing approach, as ACGHK prepares to welcome over 2,000 cosplayers and more than 140 exhibitors from July 26 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“Apart from Hong Kong citizens being the mainstream, we welcomed visitors from more than 30 countries and regions [last year]… ACGHK has a very stable foundation to continue developing into the most influential anime exhibition in the whole of Asia, or even the world,” said Leung Chung-pun, the event’s chief executive officer.
The decision to separate the cosplay and exhibition areas comes as organizers aim to better manage the flow of attendees and prevent the overcrowding issues that have plagued the event in the past. By offering distinct ticketing options, the organizers hope to provide a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for fans of anime, comics, and gaming.
“We are committed to continuously improving ACGHK to meet the growing demand and expectations of our passionate attendees,” Leung added. “This new ticketing structure is just one of the ways we’re working to enhance the event and solidify Hong Kong’s reputation as a hub for cutting-edge pop culture experiences.”
While specific ticket details are yet to be announced, the move is widely seen as a proactive step by the organizers to ensure ACGHK remains a must-attend event for anime, comic, and gaming enthusiasts from around the world. As the festival enters its latest iteration, all eyes will be on Hong Kong to see if the new approach helps cement the city’s status as a premier destination for cutting-edge pop culture.
